The Puget Sound chapter of the SRA is an organization operating across Washington State focused on firearms education among comrades. We have some excellent instructors who run highly-inclusive classes for our members at many different levels of firearms familiarity, in several locations all over Washington.

The Puget Sound SRA has established guidelines for prospective members in line with the qualifications laid out by national SRA in Article three, section three of their bylaws. In addition, PSSRA has established qualifications necessary for basic functioning in line with our mission as a firearms education group (i.e., members must be legally allowed to possess firearms).

While we are working through an intake backlog due to current events — an unprecedented number of emails since Nov 2024 and continuing through Feb 2025 — we are instituting a queue for bringing new folks into the intake/vetting process so that you’re not waiting around for vetting forever.

PSSRA does not provide equipment recommendations to unvetted members. We are happy, however, to point to other creators and resources whose recommendations we generally agree with as far as training and gear goes.

PSSRA’s primary communication platform is Discord.

We often get asked, Why Discord? Why not something more secure? The simple answer is: it’s secure enough for us.

Our chapter’s foremost goal with new members is to immediately provide an opportunity to “touch grass” and make it out to an in-person introductory class as soon as as they make it into the org. To that end, new members’ experience in the chapter is heavily directed towards that goal, meeting other members in person, taking a class, and getting some live-fire experience with us.
